UK vocalist, producer and songwriter.

Paul began singing in school and church while living in New York during the 1970's and later worked with one of the UK’s pioneering contemporary Gospel bands, [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Paradise+(2)]Paradise[/url] and also sang with the [a=London Community Gospel Choir]. One turning point in Johnson's career was in meeting [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Norman+Giscombe+Jr.]Junior Giscombe[/url] with whom he sang background vocals for on the Red Wedge Tour where he met [a=Billy Bragg], [a=Paul Weller], [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Smiths%2C+The]The Smiths[/url], [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Blow+Monkeys%2C+The]Blow Monkeys[/url], [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Communards%2C+The]Communards[/url] and many other pop artists. Soon after that tour, he signed an album deal as singer and songwriter to [url=http://www.discogs.com/label/CBS]CBS Records[/url] in the late 1980's in which he recorded two albums, [i]Paul Johnson[/i] and [i]Personal[/i]. His first singles were [i]When Love Comes Calling[/i], written and produced [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Norman+Giscombe+Jr.]Junior Giscombe[/url] and [i]Half a World Away[/i]. Paul has also worked with [a=Bryan Ferry], [a=Stevie Wonder], [a=Bros], [a=Mica Paris], [a=Juliet Roberts], [a=Loose Ends], [a=Al Green], [a=Tom Robinson], [a=Cliff Richard], [a=George Michael], [a=Soul II Soul], [a=Glen Goldsmith], [a=Steven Dante], [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Jean-Paul+Maunick]Bluey Maunick[/url] of [a=Incognito] and many others. In addition, he has toured Europe and the UK, doing numerous television shows and has performed at Ronnie Scots and Sadlers Wells and has been a featured artist on various records, performing on numerous re-mixes through producer [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Dancin%27+Danny+D]Danny D.[/url] Through an introduction by [a=Juliet Roberts], he began touring and recording with [a=M People] and has sung with [a=Lynieve Austin] and [a=Sarah Brown] on tours around the world. His other work has been as a production co-ordinator providing session singers for the industry in the UK and abroad which include managing and signing [a=Shaun Escoffery] to his own production company. After working with [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Dodge]DJ Dodge[/url], he was introduced to a new audience through the release in 1994 of [i]If We Lose Our Way[/i] written and produced with [a=IG Culture], [i]Sayin’ Something[/i] and [i]To Be Wanted[/i]. He began working on an album with [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Dodge]DJ Dodge[/url] that has never been released.

Paul Johnson stopped singing some time ago and is currently "somewhat removed from the music industry". Currently, he is the head of a department in an inner city college where he works with young people and adults who despite very difficult circumstances are attempting to improve their lives through accessing education.
