The D4

The D4's most well known line-up is:
Dion: Vocals, Guitar
Jimmy: Vocals, Guitar
Vaughan: Bass
Beaver: Drums

The original rhythm section consisted of 'English' Jake Harding on bass and Rich Mixture on drums. After recording their first EP, Jake left and was replaced by Vaughan. Paul Reid briefly replaced Rich Mixture on drums before the legend that is Beaver Pooley took over the permanent drum stool. And the rest, as they say, is rock n roll history.....

After releasing two killer albums, a bunch of singles and touring the world, the band decided to call it quits and after playing two jam packed shows at Auckland's legendary King's Arms (RIP) in June 2006 they went their separate ways. Jimmy formed Luger Boa, Dion moved to the US of A and it looked like that was that for one of the best garage rock n roll bands around.

Thankfully, NZ's greatest rock n roll band reformed for (what was then) a one-off tour of their home country in early 2018, with original bass player Jake Harding returning to the fold for these shows.

And now (hallelujah!) the band are back and touring Aotearoa once again, with shows booked for March 2023, to celebrate the 21st anniversary of their debut album 6Twenty. This garage rock n roll classic was recently reissued on vinyl in NZ as 6Twenty One, having previously only ever been released on record in the UK back in 2002, with updated artwork and liner notes from Jimmy & Dion.
