Fern Kinney

Southern soul - disco singer
She was born in Jackson, Mississippi on July 11, 1949. She started in the mid-60's singing with [a=The Poppies (3)] along with [a=Dorothy Moore]. She released one solo single in 1968, the [a=Huey P. Meaux] produced [url=http://www.discogs.com/Fern-Kinney-Your-Loves-Not-Reliable/release/3212441]"Your Love Is Not Reliable"[/url] and in the 70's she did back up singing for other artists' releases ([a=King Floyd], [a=Dorothy Moore], [a=Z.Z. Hill] etc.) before she started recording as solo artist in the late 70's, with the duet with [a=Frederick Knight], [url=http://www.discogs.com/Frederick-Knight-Fearn-Kinney-Sweet-Life-Tonights-The-Night/release/3323881]"Sweet Life[/url] in 1978. She released three albums, before returning to back up singing in the 80's. Her albums were produced by the holy trinity of southern soul scene ([a=Carson Whitsett], [a=Tommy Couch], [a=Wolf Stephenson]).
