The Five Stars (11)

The Five Stars were formed in 1974 the Five Stars were mainly a family outfit of brothers and a cousins. The group was founded by [a=Afoa Tu'uga Stevenson], the father of some of the band members. He then became their manager. The line-up consisted of band leader [a=Alofa Tu'uga Stevenson] and his brother, Solomona (Soloman) Tu’uga aka Solomona Stevenson. Other members were their relatives Samu Poulava-Selesele, Faifua Fa’atoe and Uili Misa, They recorded for the [l=Hibiscus] record label, a subsidary of [l=Kiwi/Pacific Records Ltd.], releasing a number of albums on vinyl and compact cassette.

Alofa died in Brisbane, Australia on April 18, 2006 at age 47. A version of the band called the Five Star Band continued in the 2000s with Alofa's brother Mona (Solomona) on drums, leading the group. Other members are his brothers, Uili on bass and Sitivi on keyboards.
