The Buk Records label was started in the early 1970s by BASF. According to Billboard Magazine, it was an outlet for BASF's own product as well as productions from Cantipreme, a production company headed by Paul Murphy.
Buk releases were pressed and distributed by Decca Record Co. Ltd. in the UK and by London Records in the US. It was later acquired by EMI
Buk issued more records in the UK than in the US, which only saw two LPs issued.
The Decca (UK) label was tan with brown print, while the later EMI version was black, green and yellow
