NDD - Neuer Deutscher Dancefloor

- German compilation series from the mid 1990s, focusing on dancefloor and happy hardcore tracks with German vocals, with many exclusive tracks.
The title "Neuer Deutscher Dancefloor" (New German Dancefloor) or "NDD" is a play on the term "Neue Deutsche Welle" (New German Wave) or "NDW", a label invented by the West German music press in the 1980s for a number of new wave and post punk artists who were emerging at the time and who were singing in German, such as Hubert Kah, Grauzone or Trio, but the label was soon also applied to more mainstream pop acts such as Nena or Markus (6).
A lot of the tracks featured the "NDD" compilations are in fact cover versions of "NDW" songs. Apart from that, the NDD compilations often featured songs based on samples from German language films, TV shows or commercials, as well as dance versions of childrens' or folk songs.
