- SME Brasil, acronym for Sony Music Entertainment Brasil is the signature/brand used in the manufacture of glass matrices for the production of CDs and DVDs. The facilities were located at the Acari plant, Rio de Janeiro. Glass masters manufacturing for CDs began in 1994, followed by DVD manufacturing later on.
In 2004, Sony Disc Manufacturing unified all its international manufacturing facilities (excluding Japan) under the Sony DADC moniker, after which time the SME Brasil name was gradually replaced by Sony DADC Brasil in the disc matrix, but SME Brasil was still used until at least 2008
When SME Brasil is found in the disc matrix as 'MASTERED BY SME BRASIL', please use the Glass Mastered At role in LCCN. When the letters 'S M B' are stamped in the inner hub area, a Pressed By Sony Music Brasil role can be assigned in addition to Glass Mastered At.
