Prestige Modern Jazz Giants

- The 'Prestige Modern Jazz Giants' series consists of 30 albums previously released on Prestige. They are manufactured around 1965 to 1968 by the Dutch record company Artone, which probably bought the distribution rights from Prestige, Artone was known for doing this in the early sixties. These records where primarily sold in the Netherlands, for the Dutch market, however, all the text on the covers is in English.
Most of the records come in either a simple flip-over jacket in a plastic sleeve or a normal sleeve. For some sleeves alternate artwork is used, which was designed & printed by their printing facility at Funckler. The sleeves can also be recognized by the 'Prestige' logo kind of slapped or pasted onto it.
It seems that in most cases original metalware was used, RVG stamps can be found in the runoffs.
Some numbers in the series come in both stereo and mono, others just mono. There are also some reissues with label variations.
For some reason, NO. 1 of the series 'John Coltrane - Soultrane' was later re-released as NO. 22 with a different cover, however there was already a NO. 22, 'John Coltrane - The Last Trane'.
