- Life Sentence Records (often stylized as X Life Sentence X Records and shortened as XLSRX) was an American independent record label founded by musician Dan Gump in 1994. Originally, the purpose of the company was to self-release his band Xessive Force's debut 7" vinyl . At the time, Gump was located in Irvine, California. The label took off after Gump started putting out other West Coast metalcore bands.
Gump moved from Irvine, California to Aurora, Illinois at the tail-end of 1995, but he eventually settled down in Salt Lake City, Utah, where the label remained from 1996 until its first closure in late 1999. During the time in Salt Lake City, Life Sentence Records had a European distribution partner Life Sentence Europe based in Helsingør, Denmark.
Gump then moved to Cottage Grove, Minnesota and eventually reactivated the record label there in late 2001. The two-year break was from then on referred to as "a hiatus" and the label issued 3 releases as part of it's comeback: the new release Proclamation's "Let The Truth Be Told" discography CD, and a re-press of Eighteen Vision's "Lifeless" EP and Torn Apart's "Nothing Is Permanent..." album, both with revised artwork.
Gump ultimately returned to Salt Lake City, Utah, where Life Sentence Records would remain until its second and final closure in late 2005 (shortly before Gump moved to North Carolina).
