Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait

There are many mixes of "I Can't Wait", some with multiple mix titles on different formats, some mixes or edits that share the same mix title with other versions. Below is descriptions of each unqiue mix, and a general idea on where and how to find them.

"AMERICAN MIXES"
The original version of the song, released on the "Tha's Right" cassette EP and independent Poolside Label 7" singles. It is the version that became a big hit on the band's hometown Portland Oregon radio stations. The band could not afford to press copies of the 12" mix they created, so it was sent to the Hot Tracks subscription service for DJs instead. That Hot Tracks compilation was discovered by [a=Peter Slaghuis] and he created what would become known as The Dutch Mix. His new version was released with the American 12" Mix and became a hit first in New York City on import, which got the band signed to Atlantic Records, who released the version (with the original version, not the long version, of the American mix on side two) internationally.

American Mix (Single Edit) 4'12 on the original 7" releases on the independent "Poolside" label, released in a poster sleeve

American Mix (Long Version) 5'55 First released as a Hot Tracks DJ Service Mix, then appears on the Dutch 12" backed with the famous "Dutch Mix" on the Injection Disco Dance Label, it's only commercially available release.


"DUTCH MIXES"
Remixed by [a=Peter Slaghuis] and originally released in 1985 on the "Injection Disco Dance Label" in Holland and Belgium. This is the version that became the international hit single when released on Atlantic Records in February, 1986.

"MODERN / RE-RECORDED MIXES"
The band re-recorded their biggest hit in 2006, and released it independely on their NuShoozMusic website and other download platforms as "The Powermix". It was later released on the soundtrack to the motion picture "The Infiltrator" in 2016 as "I Can't Wait (Re-Record)". They also recorded a "Twentieth Anniversary Version" for their album "Pandora's Box" (which also featured new version of old hits "Point Of No Return" and "Driftin"). This new version was a single in it's own right but given the mix title "Unplugged", and backed with a third new version, the "Go Remix".
