The original instrumental version of this song was released on [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/2446-Mr-Fingers]Mr. Fingers[/url]' [url=http://www.discogs.com/Mr-Fingers-Washing-Machine/master/5309]3 track EP[/url] in 1986.

Some DJs used it as a backing track for the "in the beginning there was Jack" sermon from [m108749] (1987), or for Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, leading to these 1988-1989 releases of the mash-ups.

The release on Desire Records has the Chuck Roberts vocal plus the sermon as an acapella. The release on Jack Trax has the King speech, along with the original instrumental and a previously unreleased mix with soulful vocals by Fingers Inc.'s [a=Robert Owens].
