The catalogue number SVLP 122 is only present on the insert and the run-outs.
After Bertelsman Music Group (BMG) acquired the defunct "Buddah" label material they relaunched these 'Magic Band' works under the new-look (and correctly-titled deity) "Buddha" label. See [l27250]
One of their first actions was to reissue the "Safe As Milk" work in remastered form on CD, including 'bonus' outtake tracks from the later 'brown wrapper' era. This 'first on Buddha' was a clever marketing move, as the original work was the 'first on Buddah' (BDS 5001).
This 180 gram double-vinyl work is simply that remastered CD work, presented in a simulated sleeve of the original "Safe As Milk", complete with the 'Abba Zaba influenced' checkerboard back cover. It has a wide spine to accommodate both vinyls, the first being the "Safe As Milk" disc and the second containing the 'bonus' outtakes - both housed in plain poly lined sleeves.
A Simply Vinyl promo release exists: [r6849070], a reissue: [r1149835] and a counterfeit pressing of inferior quality: [r1139565], based on the Simply Vinyl SLVP 22 release.
To distinguish the official release from the counterfeit (apart from the run-outs) there are the following differences:
-on the counterfeit release the stereo image is inverted, i.e. vocals on A1 are on the right channel etc.
-the official package is presented in a clear poly wallet, with a top flap which should be embossed with the Simply Vinyl logo followed by the company's name
-the flap of the official package is sealed closed by a silver roundel sticker reading: "[Logo] Simply Vinyl Seal Of Quality", around the edge: "Limited Edition Vinyl LP" (counterfeit uses different stickers)
On the front of the wallet:
-Top right a silver sticker (approx. 1.6 x 3.1") which reads; "[Logo] Simply Vinyl Limited Vinyl LP Classic Albums 180g Virgin Vinyl Pressings Heavy Quality Sleeve" (round sticker with different text on counterfeit)
-Top left an additional blue triangular sticker which reads: "Double Album Includes Bonus Tracks" (lacking on counterfeit)
-The text on the side of the back of the sleeve (reading: "This compilation © 1999 ...") measures approx. 8" (on the counterfeit it measures approx. 8.6")
-The official release has the title names in bold face on the labels; both state "Made in the EU" on labels
Copies contain a bifold insert with reproductions of the original liner art and liner notes by John Platt from the remastered CD release. Copies may contain a flyer with Simply Vinyl releases up and until SLVP 160.
A number of logos are present on the release.
The label is Buddha - owned & distributed by BMG.
(This logo is above the cat# on labels)
The 'Shiva' Buddah logo is the old original release logo (defunct).
The RCA logo is present, as it was their studio in which original work was made.
