Original UK sleeve with "a MAINMAN artiste' on rear RH corner rather than just the MainMan logo. This was in error as US original artwork only contained the logo and the words were quickly removed - though the second word is still discernible. For revised sleeve see: [r438169]
Issued on 'neon' design RCA Victor orange labels; initial copies stating dates 14th & 15th July inside fully laminated gatefold sleeve printed by Howards Printers (Slough) Ltd) and with matte (black) paper printed inner sleeves with MainMan logo on Record 2 (Sides 3 & 4) and individual cat#s APL2-0771-1 and APL2-0771-2. Price Codes GG and FF ('until Jan 1st 1975') on reverse of sleeve.
' This Live album was culled from performances on the 14th & 15th July 1974 at the Tower Theatre, Philadelphia. It is complete and exact. No studio overdubs or re-recording of voices, instruments or audience have been added with the exception of several backing vocals due to loss of theatre mike contact. '
In the UK and US these dates were changed to 12th & 13th July on RCA reissues. Later reissues on Ryko and EMI provided different dates again.
Mixed at Electric Lady Studios, New York.
Lacquer cut by Pete Norman (Side 1 & 2) & Denis Blackham (Bilbo) (Side 4). Side 3 not identified.
Variant; Side 4 lacquer cut by Pete Norman (signified by PN stamp on run-off)
Variant; Side 1 orange label not smoothly stuck down
Track D3, Jean Genie is misspelled on the label as Jean Jenie.
