American songwriter, keyboard player, singer and producer from Jacksonville, Florida, active mostly in Georgia. Born c.1940, died in 1988, related to [a4301628]. An acclaimed producer at [l=Atlantic] records who worked with artists such as [a181145], [a=Candi Staton] and [a=B.B. King]. His production credits are often alongside [a=Brad Shapiro] or [a=Earl Young].
As a songwriter he is best known for [a=Candi Staton]'s "Young Hearts Run Free" (1976) and [a=Linda Lyndell]'s "What A Man" (1968) - remade in 1994 by [a=Salt 'N' Pepa] and [a=En Vogue].
