American R&B and psychedelic soul group, founded by producer [a=Norman Whitfield]. [a=Joe Harris], [a=Billie Calvin], [a=Brenda Evans] were the original members. Billie Calvin and Brenda Evans left in 1973 and were replaced by [a=Virginia McDonald] ("Vee"), [a=Tyrone Barkley] ("Lil Ty"), [a=Tyrone Douglas] ("Big Ty") and [a=Calvin "Doc" Stephenson]. The group left [l=Motown] and followed Norman Whitfield to [l=Whitfield Records] in 1975. Virginia McDonald and Tyrone Douglas left, and Yvonne Stevens (aka [a=Taka Boom]) joined. The late '70s line-up often included musicians from Whitfield's other group, [a=Rose Royce]. Joe Harris, [a=Marcy Thomas], [a=Melvin Stewart] and [a=Lloyd Williams] are who appear on the group's last album.
