- Riff is a hard rock band from Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, that was formed in 1984 under the name The Riffs (2). Later, the band changed its name to Crash N' Burn (3).
The band was formed by guitarist Frank Becking, drummer Volker Britz and bassist Burkhard Westerhoff.A year after the formation, the Newcastle-born singer William Lennox joined the band.
Frank Becking had played in different bands, (with, among other things “The Ramblers” and “The Stripes” Nena ). William Lennox was the singer of the band Days of Sorrow and Volker Britz had in played in the NDW -band X-sung Square. Initially Frank Becking was also lead singer and guitarist. After William Lennox had joined the band, the band recorded an album Mission Love for the label BMG / RCA .
