American vocalist, lyricist, and artist.

Born: 25 November 1950 in Kinston, North Carolina, USA.

Brown has been a versatile vocalist to this day, singing on many R&B, Disco, Pop, and House productions.

Her aunt [a=Barbara Roy] inspired Jocelyn to spread her musical wings. She began her career in the 1970s as a studio singer for many groups and artists like [a=Musique], [a=Inner Life], [a=Bad Girls], [a=The Salsoul Orchestra], [a=Disco Tex & His Sex-O-Lettes], [a=Van McCoy], [a=Evelyn King], [a=Gloria Gaynor], [a=Phyllis Hyman], [a=Vicki Sue Robinson], [a=Dazzle], [a=Revanche], [a=Melba Moore], [a=Roberta Flack], [a=Cerrone], [a=Chic] and [a=Change].

In 1984, she started her solo career gaining great success with the single "Somebody Else's Guy", which reached #2 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart (#75 on the Hot 100). In 1985-87 she worked with [a=Culture Club] and toured with them. In 1990, some of her records started to be sampled by House and Rap producers; among them [a=Snap!] (who sampled her vocals from "Love's Gonna Get You").

Since then, her contribution to the world of dance music has been well recognised, working with countless artists of the genre, such as [a=Todd Terry], [a=Martha Wash], [a=Kym Mazelle], [a=Jamestown], [a=Cassius], [a=Right Said Fred], [a=DJ BoBo] and many, many others.

Niece of singer [a=Barbara Roy].
