Heart of Darkness

Heart of Darkness (H.O.D.) existed from 1986-91 and were based in State College, PA. They released three demo tapes and a 3-song, blue-vinyl 7". The original lineup was: Mike Scalzi-vocals, Tony Begnal-rhythm guitar, Len Jarabek-lead guitar, George Draguns-bass, Ken Brassington-drums. Al M. replaced Scalzi on vocals in 1987 as Mike Begnal joined on drums. The core of the band for much of its existence, however, and the lineup that released recordings (between 1988-90), was Tony and Mike Begnal with Rusty Glessner on bass. For three of their four studio releases, Eric Borkovec was the lead guitarist. For their last demo tape, Chris Haa replaced Borkovec. In 1991, H.O.D. moved to Los Angeles, where Don Strong joined on lead guitar. There, they recorded three unreleased tracks and broke up in the fall of 1991.
