German radio orchestra affiliated with the Southwest German broadcaster [l244785] (SWR) and located in Baden-Baden and the [l304529]. It was founded in 1946 and was officially named [a5238410] between 1948 and 1966 and [a394791] between 1966 and 1998. Chief conductors: [a394796], [a579373] and [a2042972].
In 2016/17 the orchestra was merged with the [a610799] to form the [a7756215].
