Γενιά Του Χάους

In Apr [b]1982[/b] in Agia Paraskevi, Athens, Greece 3 friends: [a=Θοδωρής Ηλιακόπουλος] [Thodoris Iliakopoulos] (vocals, drums, lyrics, and only constant member), [a13182540] [Nikos F. Vosdogannis] (bass) and his cousin [a=Νίκος Animal Βοσδογάννης] [Nikos Animal Vosdogannis] (guitar, lyrics, vocals - later of [a578844]) form a band named [b]Αντι-κουλτούρα[/b] [Anti-culture], influenced by Punk / New Wave with political lyrics (mostly written by Iliakopoulos). This line-up played a few gigs, drawing alternative and anti-government audiences.

Vocalist [a=Άρης Λαμπρίδης] [Aris Labridis] joins, and the band changes its name to [b]Chaos Generation[/b]. In early [b]1983[/b] guitarist Vosdogannis leaves the band, with [a=Κώστας Χατζόπουλος (2)] [Kostas Hatzopoulos] (the sole member, aside Iliakopoulos, to feature in all of the band's releases) taking his place. In Apr 7th 1983 they played live at Sofita Club in Plaka, Athens with [a=Ex Humans], and in Oct 16th 1983 they perform live at Anemoni Cinema in Agia Paraskevi with [a=Αδιέξοδο]. RIght before the end of 1983, the group changes its name to [b][a=Γενιά Του Χάους][/b] (Genia Tou Haous). Labridis leaves the band, and [a=Δημήτρης Δρακόπουλος] [Dimitris Drakopoulos] takes his place on vocals. In spring [b]1984[/b] bassist Vosdogannis leaves, and [a=Άκης Αμπράζης] [Akis Abrazis] takes his place. In Jan [b]1985[/b] the play a show with [a=Αδιέξοδο] at Anesis Cinema at Agrinio, Athens. The show was recorded and released in a 2nd split cassette titled [url=https://www.discogs.com/release/8007365-%CE%97-%CE%93%CE%B5%CE%BD%CE%B9%CE%AC-%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%85-%CE%A7%CE%AC%CE%BF%CF%85%CF%82-%CE%BA%CE%B1%CE%B9-%CE%A4%CE%BF-%CE%91%CE%B4%CE%B9%CE%AD%CE%BE%CE%BF%CE%B4%CE%BF-%CE%A3%CE%B1%CF%82-%CE%95%CF%8D%CF%87%CE%BF%CE%BD%CF%84%CE%B1%CE%B9-%CE%9A%CE%B1%CE%BB%CF%8C-%CE%A0%CE%AC%CF%83]Η Γενιά του Χάους και το Αδιέξοδο σας εύχονται Καλό Πάσχα[/url], distributed hand to hand through the bands' friends. In Oct 3rd 1985 they perform live at Chevrolet Pub at Ioannina.

In early [b]1986[/b] Drakopoulos leaves, and Iliakopoulos becomes the vocalist - while still being the drummer. Now as a trio, the band signs with label Δικαίωμα Διάβασης (later [l=Di Di Music]) in May 1986. By the summer, they release debut album [url=http://www.discogs.com/%CE%93%CE%B5%CE%BD%CE%B9%CE%AC-%CE%A4%CE%BF%CF%85-%CE%A7%CE%AC%CE%BF%CF%85%CF%82-%CE%93%CE%B5%CE%BD%CE%B9%CE%AC-%CE%A4%CE%BF%CF%85-%CE%A7%CE%AC%CE%BF%CF%85%CF%82/master/290931]Γενιά Του Χάους[/url]. The 1st press was removed from the market due to bad sound, and replaced by a 2nd one. In autumn bassist Abrazis moves to France (joining the band [a=Parkinson Square]), and 2 new members are added to the band: [a=Δημήτρης Παππάς] [Dimitris Pappas] on guitar, and [a=Αλέξης Αλιφέρης] [Alexis Aliferis] on bass & synthesizer.

Bringing new, more metallic, influences (the second guitar giving a heavier sound), their style went away from punk clichés, with more poetic lyrics, referring to inner search of the human psyche. In June 22 they play live with [a= Moot Point], [a=Γκρόβερ] and [a=Εκτός Ελέγχου] at Theatro Dasous, Thessaloniki. Also in Nov 14 they support [a=The Ex] and [a=The Shrubs] at Club 22 Aftokinisi in Athens. Having a steady drummer for live shows was always a problem for the band, and [a=Γιάννης Βεναρδής], Γιώργος Σαλιβαράς, [a483434] and Γιώργος Κιούσης filled the spot from time to time ([a=Γιώργος Πιπίνης] also played bass sometimes).

In the end of [b]1987[/b] they start recording new material. In Feb 5th and 6th [b]1988[/b] they supprt [a=The Ex] again for 2 shows at Ρόδον (Rodon) Club in Athens, and finally in Feb 20th they give their last live performance at 127db Club at Eksarkhia, Athens. Recording sessions ended in February [b]1989[/b], and their second and last album [url=http://www.discogs.com/%CE%93%CE%B5%CE%BD%CE%B9%CE%AC-%CE%A4%CE%BF%CF%85-%CE%A7%CE%AC%CE%BF%CF%85%CF%82-%CE%A1%CE%AD%CE%BA%CE%B2%CE%B9%CE%B5%CE%BC/master/173443]Ρέκβιεμ [/url] is released by [l=Di Di Music] early in spring, all the while finalizing their [u]disbandment[/u]. 8 years later, in early [b]1997[/b], a reissue of their 2 albums (plus 3 unreleased tracks) would be released by independent label [l=Wipe Out! Records] (on CD, and limited edition double vinyl).

In Apr 24th and 25th [b]2009[/b], Iliakopoulos, Hatzopoulos, Abrazis along with drummer [a=Μπάμπης Πετσίνης] give 2 live appearances at Gagarin 205, to mark the 20th anniversary since their disbandment. In [b]2012[/b], [l68729], [l136368] & [l200931] release a vinyl edition of selected tracks from the shows (including 2 previously unreleased tracks), plus a 90-minute DVD. As they said, they owed these shows to their fans as a proper farewell, because their past live performances lacked in terms of sound production. One more show was performed in March [b]2012[/b] at "The 80’s Gathering" event of An Club by Iliakopoulos, Hatzopoulos, Drakopoulos, and friends of the band such as members of [a2340672].

In [b]2013[/b], a remastered edition of the [m=273253] compilation is released, and also a book by Iliakopoulos is published (autographed and limited to 300 copies) named "Είμαι παιδί της εποχής των κανιβάλων" ["I am a child of the cannibal age"]. In [b]2014[/b], [m=704758] is issued for the first time on vinyl, by [l136368] & [l110023]. In April 25, [b]2015[/b] Thodoris Iliakopoulos starts a facebook page, and promises to distribute the band's songs for free, including artwork, facts, pictures etc, on flac format. Along with the studio recordings, many unreleased demo tracks were shared. In May 8th, [b]2016[/b] (one week after the release of [r=8461658]), he kept his promise, and then deleted the page.
