• Producer, label executive, manager, and co-founder of Free Dirt Records (alongside Erica J. Haskell). He has been the Associate Director of Smithsonian Folkways Recordings since 11 June 2018.
  
  Smith also worked for Smithsonian Folkways from 1999 to 2014. He was originally hired as a marketing assistant, but he served countless roles throughout the years, including head of the sales department, international distribution manager, and manager of operations for the Sales & Mail Order division. He has produced and compiled numerous albums, and has worked under all three directors of the organization since Folkways Records was acquired by Smithsonian in 1987.
