US rhythm & blues and soul label founded by Bert Berns in 1966 as a subsidiary of Bang Records, and based in New York City. The label was inactive for a time, but was revived in 1971.
Burke Johnson originally handled promotion for the label from his office in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1967 Berns passed away, and his widow Ilene Berns took over both Bang and Shout. She hired Eddie Biscoe to manage the labels, and they later married. The couple moved the labels to Atlanta in 1971, and then sold them to CBS Records in 1979.
