Principal activities: Wholesale export and distribution of recorded music products.
The roots of the company were established as WindSong Record Exports Ltd. on 17th May 1976, initially started as the export distributor for Backs Distribution, and were then taken up by Pinnacle. On 1st Apr 1989 WindSong Record Exports Ltd. is subsequently renamed Windsong International Ltd.
As of 1990 Windsong International Ltd. was operating various subsidiaries, including: Lambourne Productions Limited (which subsequently owned 50% of Audio Services Ltd. & Connoisseur Collection Ltd.) and Relativity Records, Inc. via its majority owned US distribution company Important Record Distributors, Inc.
Although Windsong International Ltd. have always primarily been an Export Distributor, they also specialised in licensing BBC products on their Windsong (and variants) label, and also took on Strange Fruit and Band Of Joy labels, etc. The BBC licensing and label ceased in 1998, after the BBC were allowed to establish their own labels, and Hux Records took on selected BBC licensing.
On the 9th July 1996 Zomba Distribution Holdings Ltd. acquired a 75% interest in the company. On the same date the Zomba Group also acquired Lambourne Productions GmbH and its subsidiaries, including Rough Trade Records GmbH and Rough Trade BV. On 9th July 1996 Windsong International Ltd. subsequently also acquires 60% of Music For Nations Ltd. (Today Croydon Ltd.)
On 16th May 1997 Windsong International Ltd. is renamed Windsong Holdings Ltd. with Steve Mason continuing as chairman, with Clive Calder being appointed director.
Hallco 1577 Ltd. a newly incorporated company, renamed Filmsgamesmusic Ltd, acquired the Windsong International name (trademark) and the Beckenham warehouse facilities in 2008 when Pinnacle sold off its various group companies. Filmsgamesmusic Ltd. is subsequently renamed Windsong International Ltd. on the 12th Mar 2009, this company is currently in administration (as of 2018). Windsong Holdings Ltd. was dissolved 20th July 2017.
