The Canadian branch of Shorewood Packaging was incorporated on December 18, 1970 and started operating in early 1971. French name was Les Emballages Shorewood Canada Limitée. Shorewood provided packaging for not only record jackets, but also pharmaceutical, confection, tobacco, health and beauty, and other consumer goods. When Columbia Records of Canada, Ltd. opened their Don Mills plant in July 1971 it included a packaging division operated by Shorewood (Shorewood Packaging Corp. Of Canada Ltd. was a joint venture with CBS until Shorewood bought out CBS' share in 1985).
The patent for the Shorepak design was registered in Canada in 1967, the "SHOREPAK CAN. PAT. NO. 75888, 1967" notice on releases does not necessarily mean Shorewood Canada printed the cover.
It was sold to [url=https://www.discogs.com/label/1571542-International-Paper-Company]International Paper] in 2000. In 2012 International Paper merged Shorewood with [url=https://www.discogs.com/label/288408-AGI-4]AGI] to create ASG (AGI-Shorewood Group).
Some releases may include 'SPC logo' and/or 'Litho In Canada' on sleeve/spine.
