Recorded on December 4 & 5, 1957 at Le Poste Parisien, Paris
Remastered for Reissue at Art et Son Studio, Paris, by Alexis Frenkel
We did a conversion from analog into digital with the tapes, using 96kHz equipment.
There was no real remastering like improvement or restoration of sound.
The sound heard on the tape is as close as possible to the original.
Prepared for reissue by Bruno Guermonprez, François Lê Xuân and Michel Mercier
Prepared for compact disc by Jean-Philippe Allard, Polygram Jazz France, and Cees Schrama, PolyGram International.
Tape vault research: Jean-Philippe Allard.
Mastered for compact disc by Gert Van Hoeyen
on booklet, page 4:
Tracks 11 to 26 are either unreleased (11 to 12, 19 to 20, 25), or were never released in exactly this form.
For this issue on compact-disc, we have preserved the takes in the order they were recorded on the original tapes.
The titles of these tracks are those appearing on the tapes. The title given to each track after the definitive film-edit of 1958 appears in brackets.
(...)
In order to remain as close as possible to the music recorded in tracks 11 to 26, we have not added the echo which underscored the dramatic side of the film soundtrack. (...).
The original soundtrack to the film, as mixed and edited in 1958, and used for the screen, can be heard on tracks 1 to 10.
Special thanks to Philippe Carles, Gérard Cormier, Martin Davies, Manfred Eicher, Christian Nicault and Alain Tercinet
Housed in a tri-fold digipak, including a 12-page booklet (detailed tracklist, credits, photos, interviews)
Fontana label is stated only on front cover.
