A. My Guy 2:45
B. Oh Little Boy (What Did You Do To Me) 2:38
The label copy of this single is not consistent with other Motown singles of the period. The word "MOTOWN" above the matrix # is in different typeface. There is no "promotional copy" designation. Sound quality is not comparable with other Motown releases of the day. Lastly, there's a drill hole through the labels indicating that it was sent through normal distribution channels & processed as a return or cut-out. Promotional copies would never have a drill hole.
In her autobiography, "Berry, Me, And Motown", Raynoma Gordy Singleton relates the story of pressing 5,000 copies of "My Guy" to cover her expenses in getting the NY office of Jobete Music up and running when husband Berry wasn't providing financial support for the project. If this is one of those 5,000 copies, it is surely among the RAREST OF ALL MOTOWN SINGLES !! She was married to Berry at the time & was also an executive officer of the company.
