Founded in 1852, initially operating at the Baskerville printing works, Cambridge St, Birmingham before moving the operations to Barford St in 1937.
In 1973 the company was acquired by Tinsley Robor Group Ltd. from Heenan Spark, during the next few decades the company extended its scope and by 1998 was operating numerous print and packaging facilities in the UK & Europe. The facilities operating in Birmingham, UK, provided commercial print, specialized CD packaging and Digipak™ casement. The Swindon plant facilitated standard CD packaging, as did Uden & Salzburg. In 1998 parent company Tinsley Robor was acquired by Impac Group Inc. (Private equity Group) which was subsequently acquired in 2000 by Westvaco later to become MeadWestvaco.
In 2010, parent company MeadWestvaco (MWV) agreed to sell its Media & Entertainment business, AGI World operating as, AGI Media, AGI Amaray and AGI Polymatrix, to Atlas Industrial Holding Company LLC. In 2012 Atlas Holdings merges AGI World with Shorewood Packaging to create ASG (AGI-Shorewood Group).
