Incorporated on 7 December 1896, the company was renamed Chappell International Music Publishers Ltd (Chappell International Music Publ. Ltd.) on 29 December 1978, whilst still under the control of Polygram (who had acquired the company, including its numerous subsidiaries in 1968).
